Doesn't ultrasonics damage the anilox roll? Ultrasonic cleaning systems provided in today's marketplace are much more gentle on anilox rolls. The Sonic Solutions cleaning systems apply the ultrasonics at a level of 42 Khz at 600 watts of power. This is a level that will be gentle on the anilox rolls but still be effective in removing the built up inks and resins. Do you guarantee that the ultrasonics does not damage the anilox rolls? Mechanical failure or operator error can occur in any cleaning system irregardless of company or technology. At Sonic Solutions we have not been made aware of any instance where our system has been responsible for damage to an anilox roll. There are other companies that offer such a guarantee. There is no way that a manufacturer of cleaning systems can back such a statement. What types of anilox rolls can and cannot be cleaned with ultrasonics? Ultrasonics can clean any type of anilox roll. What must be considered is the impact of the cleaning solution on the anilox roll. Sonic Kleen is a very strong and corrosive cleaner. As such, Sonic Kleen will attack anilox rolls with a soft metal (brass/ aluminum) base. There will be no immediate effect, but over time, the solutions will slowly deteriorate this base. The rolls that work best with the Sonic Solutions ultrasonic cleaning systems and Sonic Kleen will be laser engraved ceramic anilox rolls with a hard steel base. Can I clean rolls that use solvent, water based, or UV inks? Rolls that use any type of inks can be cleaned on the Sonic Solutions cleaning systems and Sonic Kleen. Sonic Kleen is a water based solution so the various inks will react differently. The solvent and UV inks and sediments will not blend into the solution, but will float on top. Just skim this residue off and the solution will remain effective. For water based inks, Sonic Kleen will be most effective. These inks leave resins within the cells of the anilox roll. As these resins build up they will rob the cells of the stated volume of ink delivery. As opposed to the solvent and UV inks, the water based inks and resins will dissolve into the Sonic Kleen. |
