The Company and The Cleaning Process

Sonic Solutions provides ultrasonic cleaning systems for laser engraved ceramic anilox rolls.  We are committed to the flexographic printing market.  Our cleaning system blends together two processes that are integral to restoring full cell volume to anilox rolls and to the safety of the anilox roll.  The first process consists of soaking the roll on top of the tank in our heated solution.  This can take up to 15 minutes - longer for first time cleanings.  During this time, our cleaning solution softens the inks and resins that have built up within the cells.  The second process consists of the ultrasonics application.  Here a gentle level of ultrasonics - 43 kHz - is applied to the anilox rolls.  If the rolls are soaked appropriately, the roll will immediately start to camouflage and you will be able to visually see the roll become clean.  The total time of ultrasonics applied to the roll should only be a few minutes at the most.  This minimal level of ultrasonics is gentle to those higher line count rolls, but still restores the rolls to full cell volume.  Our systems allow you to use the anilox rolls at the levels that they were made to be used at.  In most instances, those rolls that you thought were “Worn Out”, were just plugged up.  We will restore them to a like new condition again.

General information about our products

Sonic Solutions has cleaning systems that can accommodate rolls of varying sizes up to 38” in length.  In most cases, gears or bearings do not need to be removed.  Our systems are the most user friendly and universal in the marketplace.  Our systems can clean from one to six rolls at time.  They don’t even have to be the same size or from the same type of press.  Additionally, we offer several accessories that help to make our systems more useful and functional.

Sonic Kleen - Formulated to clean anilox rolls

A big factor in our cleaning process is our cleaning solution - Sonic Kleen.  Sonic Kleen was developed specifically for our cleaning systems.  We formulated this item to be as strong as possible to clean your rolls, but still be gentle to the roll and your staff.  Our solution does not contain any nerve carcinogenics!

How we got started

The company was founded in 1995 by flexographic printers - Label Tek.  This company which is still in existence today, was experiencing the same problems that others were at the time.  Their anilox rolls were becoming clogged with dried on, built up inks and resins.  They scrubbed their rolls by hand but the rolls were just not performing like they should.  After 2 weeks of normal use, they found that over 25% of the cell volume was already lost.  Their rolls were becoming less and less effective.  At first, the company thought that the rolls were becoming worn out.  They were replacing rolls after 6 months.  They investigated different ways of cleaning the anilox rolls.  They were the first company to clean rolls on top of the tanks and not submerge them.  Other companies in the cleaning industry said it would never work.  They proved them wrong.  Their patented product quickly became the standard in the industry.  Sonic Solutions cleaning systems are now found throughout the world.  By the way, Label Tek has yet to replace a roll because its “Worn Out” or damaged by ultrasonics.
